| Student Membership |
|
Student membership consists of individuals who are full time students in accredited colleges, polytechs, universities and other accredited educational institutes undertaking studies in accounting, commerce or business studies with at least a minor in accounting.
NZAA is fully committed to towards the progression of both the young and mature accountants and encouraging students to join the Association for the advancement of their accounting career.
The annual membership fee applicable is $20.00. |

| Affliate Group |
The Affiliate Group consists of people who are working in our areas of expertise, but do not meet our criteria for membership, or who do not wish to study for our Professional Entry Requirements. Participation in this group entitles you to receive: -
- NZAA newsletters
- Invitations to Association functions and seminars
Expectations/Responsibilities
- You must not use NZAA related initials after your name.
- You must comply with the NZAA Constitution and By – Laws.
- You must stay up-to-date with your membership fees.
- You must not call yourself ACCOUNTANT or PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT.
Rights
- You pay a discounted price for attending NZAA organised events as others members are entitled.
- You do not receive a NZAA Certificate.

| Associate Member [AMNZAA] |
Associates [AMNZAA] of NZAA are individuals who meet the requirements of one of the following: -
- Instructor/teacher of accounting at an accredited university, polytechnic, college,
or other accredited educational institutes.
- Senior partner/sole practitioner in an accounting/tax practice but does not
meet any of the requirements for CPPA and APA.
- Accounting, Auditing and taxation employees of an accounting/tax practice firm.
- Individuals employed by government, financial institutes, private sector
businesses or non-profit entities and their primary duties are in the field of
accounting or tax.
- He or she must have at least a certificate in Accounting, Commerce or business studies with at least a minor in accounting from an accredited university,
Polytechnic, college, or other accredited educational institutes.
Annual membership fee applicable is $175.00

| Certified Accounting Practitioner [CAP] |
Members in this category of NZAA consist of individual who the meet one of the following requirements:
- He or she must have had three years experience as a tax agent, auditor, or
Tax officer with the Inland Revenue Service of New Zealand.
- He or she must have at least a certificate in accounting, commerce or
business studies with a minor in accounting from an accredited college, polytechnic, university
or other accredited educational institute and have at least three years of experience in the
accounting Field.
- He or she is full member by the Taxation Institute of New Zealand Inc
and has held the membership for three years on the date of application.
Annual membership fee applicable is $250.00

Authorized Public Accountant [APA] |
Authorized Public Accountants [APA] are the highest qualified members of the NZAA. The APA designation provides employers and clients with guarantee that they are dealing with a trained professional, who has met the academic, ethical and practical requirements of NZAA with an ongoing commitment to Continuing Professional Education [CPE] ensuring high performance standards are maintained.
The Authorized Public Accountant [APA] members should meet one the following requirements:
- He or she must be admitted by any recognized professional body as a CPA, CA or equivalent thereto.
- He or she must have at least a bachelor’s degree in accounting, commerce or business studies with a minor in accounting from an accredited college, polytechnic, university or other
accredited educational institutes and have at least two years of experience in the accounting
field.

| Annual membership fee applicable is $275.00 |

| Certified Public Practising Accountant [CPPA] |
Authorized Public Accountants [APA] who has 3 years of accounting experience with the exemptions of CPA’s and CA’s [inline with the rules of CPPA] are eligible to apply for a Certified Public Practising Accountant Certificate, renewable annually, who practise as a Public Accountant.
NZAA Public Accountants are required to abide by a Code of Ethics and is strongly advised to hold Professional Indemnity Insurance.
The decision to enter Public Practice as an Accountant should not be made lightly. It is a career that can be both rewarding and challenging. Now more than ever accountants in practice must ensure professional standards are maintained and knowledge is up to date. Annual membership fee applicable is $350.00 |
